Your loved ones have rights

The Bill of Residents’ Rights, established by the BC Ministry of Health is enthusiastically supported by the Ahmon Group. Your family member has rights and deserves them to be respected and upheld.

Keeping you and your loved one informed

Information on all aspects of our community of residences is available through each facility's website, resident handbooks, bulletin boards, family information handbooks, brochures and monthly newsletters. By being informed, you help us do the best for your family member.

Participation is greatly encouraged

The Resident Councils, care conferences and Family Councils all work for you and yours to encourage participation in the activities, events and care provided.

Technology is helping enable and optimize care

Both residents and staff benefit from modern technological systems. The key areas where they benefit is where safety and security issues are of concern. Things such as the use of silent wireless nurse call systems and easy to use push-pull door handles.

Technology is also used in strength buildings and restorative programs, designed to improve and maintain your family member’s mobility.

Relationships count and are supported

Activities such as art and music are provided to reduce the potential for isolation, helplessness and boredom. Your loved one has the opportunity to join in many different activities.

You and your family are encouraged to visit frequently, at any time. All Ahmon Group facilities feature a family room, multiple lounge areas for intimate gatherings and a resident’s laundry and resident’s kitchen where families are able to prepare snacks for their own needs.

The community is part of each residence

Volunteers from the community participate in recreational activities, ranging from social visits and pet visits to playing the piano, pastoral care, visits from school children and singing groups.

Our facilities are part of the community and we make meeting rooms available to local community groups.

Our staff are both skilled and caring

Careful staff selection, education and continuous skill development are high priorities. The quality of life for your loved one is directly related to caring, competent staff.

Senior staff are leaders who provide a supportive environment for residents and other staff alike.

Effective leadership begins with sound strategic plans, supported by an efficient business infrastructure and a philosophy that meets the needs of all stakeholders and agencies.

The Ahmon Group demonstrates leadership by example, and by participating closely in day-to-day operations. This proactive team approach allows leadership to participate at all levels, enabling decisions to be quickly made when required, and enables the organization to be more efficient while serving as a prime motivation for all staff.

Available resources are effectively managed

All departments have defined annual budgets which are closely monitored and discussed at monthly management meetings. Stock control and regular distribution maintains inventory levels with minimum wastage.
